About

Qualifications

Lisa Perusse, aka “Dee”, is a 500-hour +++ certified yoga teacher (since 2015) specializing in—but not limited to—pre- and post-natal yoga and gentle, supportive movement for pregnant and recently pregnant bodies. Their teaching is science-informed and centered on nervous-system down-regulation through pranayama (breathwork), asana (poses), meditation, and mindfulness—prioritizing health over weight loss and welcoming every body. In their classes, breath leads and the poses follow, creating a grounded, easeful container even when the practice is strong. They bring a practical, non-dogmatic approach to their classes, shaped by 11 years of teaching across many studios and community settings.

Philosophy

Dee’s classes focus on health, not weight loss. While weight loss can be a byproduct of a movement practice, every body is welcome.

In pre/post-natal classes, students are encouraged to share their thoughts and feelings in a casual way. While Dee’s approach is science-informed, no parenting practices will be shamed.

What they might do in class:

  • Asana / physical poses

  • Pranayama / breathwork

  • Pelvic floor work / rehab

  • Gentle post-pregnancy abdominal rehabilitation

  • Self-massage

  • Meditation

  • Sharing thoughts and feelings in a casual way

  • Maybe a little bit of singing or humming (for vagus nerve stimulation or to soothe babies)

Parenthood is hard work!

Even though I am an introverted person, I firmly believe that new parents - especially birth-givers - need to commune with each other during this adjustment period. As worth it as babies are, they require so much hard work, dedication and presence. It’s easy to feel isolated and alone during this transition. Many parents find it helpful to share their experiences in a tenderly-held safe space.
